Liquified Crooning, Soulful Spunk & Traditional Arousal

It’s not long until the second lineup announcement for KnockanStockan 2018! In the meantime, hang tight and listen to some absolute smashers we’ve already announced!

Vernon Jane (Dublin)

Very few can match the live energy of Vernon Jane and aren’t you all unbelievably lucky that they’re launching their new single ‘Fragile’ this Saturday, April 7th at the Sugar Club! Selling out fast and we’re not surprised, this jazz/punk or self defined ‘psy-jance’ group bring extremely funky, massively amplified, super soulful, slick, spunky and intricately organised chaos. They just keep getting better and just released their slick new VIDEO!

Spudgun (Dublin)

SpudGun are a 5-8 piece mix of psychedelic madness who hit a gorgeously confusing sweet spot between something jazzy, melty and toe curlingly grungy, something one might describe as a form of liquified crooning. Their description of themselves as ‘Earth-ish’ is extremely fitting, and we will quite happily basque in blissful oblivion and uncertainty when listening to their tunes! Please Spudgun, let us never ever know what is going on! Check out their new eerie video for another unbelievable tune HERE

JyellowL (Dublin)

Rhythmic poet JyellowL is a true pioneer for hip-hop culture in Ireland, bringing innovative RnB & soul influenced beats to lyrically political subject matter. JyellowL has a very unique flow; reserved, extremely captivating spoken word that’s ever so slightly and perfectly falling off the beat. He’s bringing the noise in his slick delivery and beats that’ll bring your core on the floor! Check out ‘Spooky’ from his Bulletproof EP HERE – TUNE!

The Wood Burning Savages (Derry)

The Wood Burning Savages are a punk rock band whose frenetic energy will cause a massive pain in the neck for those partial to incessant head banging and become extremely inconvenient for those who think they might like to sit down for the evening. Lyrics charged with punk appropriate political punch and unrestrained musical hedonism, their ‘Stability’ album tour is coming to Whelan’s April 28th!! Expect riotous musical rapture fit only for the true pleasure seeker!

Navá (Dublin/Iran)

Navá are an Irish/Persian traditional ensemble! Their wonderful fusion of two ancient musical cultures brings a delicately intoxicating sound that will be an intricate treat at KnockanStockan 2018. Their perfect amalgamation of musical culture has undoubtedly aroused many a musicologist, but it’s their somewhat peculiar, distinctive sound that’s so intriguing to us. Check out this for craic enticing: ‘Comb Your Hair & Curl It’ from their Tapestry Album HERE!
