Anchorsong AKA Masaaki Yoshida has become globally recognised for his unique live shows, which many have described as “like watching a painter drawing on a white canvas” as he creates electronic music completely live using a sampler (MPC2500) and a keyboard, right in front of the audience.

Supporting the likes of Bonobo, Prefuse 73, DJ Krush, Daedelus, Jaga Jazzist and Shigeto has established Anchorsong in the top tier of live beatmakers. Whilst famous mainly for his solo performance, the show is often augmented with a live string section which takes the spectacle somewhere even more enveloping and atmospheric.

After wowing crowds at SXSW 2009, Anchorsong has made appearances at festivals from South East Asia to all corners of Europe, whilst also taking his live set to the airwaves, with live sessions for Huw Stephens’ “In New Music We Trust” show in early 2010 and then for globetrotting tastemaking pioneers Boiler Room in 2012.

Continuing to push out to wider audiences in 2016 and beyond with a more electrifying and diverse set than ever, Anchorsong is in no hurry to relinquish his hard earned reputation.

Elephant, the musical vehicle of Dundalk based multi-instrumentalist Shane Clarke has, of late, taken a turn from the quiet looping soloist into a full band foray.  Showcasing a dynamic retelling of the debut album that can get a little to a lot louder than what Elephant listeners might be used to while still retaining the nuance and intimacy of the solo set.

Songs wander from an instantaneous summery folk pop reminiscent of Badly Drawn Boy and Elliot Smith, to more mature meandering pieces with a deliberate deconstructed nature, akin to say… Broken Social Scene, Justin Vernon or Joanna Newsom. Elephant has rightly garnered much praise on the live front with his earnest vocal delivery and unique lyrical style capturing audiences and securing him performances with Martha Wainwright, BC Camplight and slots at most of the country’s top festivals including Electric Picnic and Body & Soul and two trips to Dingles Other Voices music trail.

On the back of his critically lauded debut album “HyperGiant”, Shane is already working on the follow-up, expected to be released later this summer.

On her way to heaven, Lisa O’Neill hit “a pothole in the sky”…..a perfect way to start this tale, this journey, this album.  Because all great things and all great art usually stems from a bump in the road – or a pothole in the sky.

Throughout the course of this album O’Neill’s voice goes to all sorts of places, and the music – provided by Mossy Nolan, Emma Smith, Joseph Doyle and Seamus Fogarty – follows her like a dark swirling storm.

My viewing point is from the planet earth and my perspective is influenced by my environment and emotional experiences.  My perceptions are as individual, debatable, ever-changing and as unimportant as anyone’s” admits O’Neill.  “The more I know, the smaller I feel, the smaller I feel the more I wonder, the more I wonder, the more I ask and the more I learn the more I’m moved.  I’m young and my life is tiny in the greater scale of things.  If a star blinked, it would miss me, yet I can say ‘stars, you’ve been lovely to watch for so long’”.

He may wield an acoustic guitar and write achingly beautiful universal truths, but Ciaran Lavery couldn’t be further from the sensitive singer-songwriter archetype.

The exciting talent from the tiny village of Aghagallon in County Antrim has his own singular sound, one that assimilates myriad influences from Americana to hip-hop, articulated in a grainy delivery with a deep soul impulse over processed beats and sumptuous strings. It’s all there on his second album, LET BAD IN , the eclectic, absorbing follow-up to 2013’s Not Nearly Dark and Lavery’s first on that barometer of cool, Believe Recordings, the alma mater of Asian Dub Foundation, Public Service Broadcasting and James Vincent McMorrow. “Nobody wants to be pigeonholed,” says Lavery

Robert John Ardiff is best known for his work as part of the band Come On Live Long. However, during a quiet period for the band, he decided to write and record his own solo material. The songs were recorded during a series of sessions at a Parisian church in May 2015. Three of these tracks were mixed by producer and Come On Live Long band mate Ken McCabe and became the basis of Robert’s debut EP, ‘The Fall’. The EP was released in February 2016 and featured ‘While You Were Asleep’ and ‘A Farewell Glass’ as well as the title track.

The Shaker Hymn are a five-piece alternative rock band from Cork, Ireland. Having known each other since childhood, the catalyst for what would become The Shaker Hymn was a two- month American excursion early in 2012. A remarkable road trip ensued, involving acoustic support slots to Chelsea Crowell (daughter of Rodney). It was on this trek that brand new, future-embracing songs were crafted; songs that would shortly enter the repertoire of the fledgling Shaker Hymn.

Following national and local airplay of their first two critically acclaimed singles, the band’s debut album, Rascal’s Antique, was released on 30th May 2014, on the band’s own label, Heavy Noids Records.

In late 2015, the band released two new singles of raucous fuzz infused psych-pop to serve as a taster from their recent album ‘Do You Think You’re Clever?’ (released April 1st 2016).
